On the second floor, under the eaves, is the top bedroom. It is a lovely room with a double bed, wardrobe and television. Being at the top of the house, it has the best views of all the rooms, looking out towards Wansfell across the mix of slate and whitewashed buildings in this part of Ambleside.
Waking up, and being able to look out the window at this view of the fells is one of my favourite things at Woolly End.
There are plenty of walks that you can start from the doorstep. Stockghyll falls is a favourite. There are a number of guidebooks in the bookcase in the living room with walks for all abilities, including buggy friendly walks.
There is plenty of headroom as you can see. The eaves are on the other side of the room, behind where the photograph was taken from.
The beds will be fully made up when you arrive so that is one less thing to have to deal with if you have a long drive.
